"Ficus carica" 'Southern Black'
The Southern Black fig also known as Cape Black or "koffievy” is an Afrotropical species. Produces small edible fruit with purple to black skin. The flesh is dark straw like in colour, attracts birds and useful insects, They are an excellent source of prebiotics, which improve overall gut health. Figs are a good source of both calcium and potassium. These minerals can work together to improve bone density, which can, in turn, prevent conditions like osteoporosis.
