Macadamia Nut Tree - A4

"Macadamia integrifolia" 

The A4 Macadamia tree is a large, spreading broadleaf evergreen tree that typically grows to 30-50' tall. Macadamias grow best in warm, frost-free areas and like a well-drained soil enriched with compost. Gardeners in cool climates who are keen to try growing a macadamia should protect the young tree from frost for the first few years. A4 trees are self-pollinating, low maintenance and produce an abundance of delicious crisp nuts in Autumn/ Winter.

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water regularly, especially when they are flowering and setting fruit. Apply a balanced fertilizer. Always prune after fruiting. Growing a fruit or nut tree will require that you dig your hole double the diameter of the plant bag  and at least 600mm-1m deep. First cut the round underside of the plant bag before you place the tree into the hole, then slide the remaining plant bag off before you cover with soil. When you cover the roots with soil, you tamp it down as you go so you can ensure that the roots are completely touching the dirt.
