Olive Tree - Arbequina
Olive Tree - Arbequina
"Olea europaea" -'Arbequina'
A pleasingly fruity and buttery olive, rich and flavorful for its small size. Arbequina olive trees are self-pollinating, so you only need one to get fruit. However, planting another olive tree will increase your harvest. 4 to 8 hours of sunlight. Once you have all that, place your Arbequina, back fill any soil and then water to settle its roots.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water regularly, especially when they are flowering and setting fruit. Apply a balanced fertilizer. Always prune after fruiting. Growing a fruit or nut tree will require that you dig your hole double the diameter of the plant bag and at least 600mm-1m deep. First cut the round underside of the plant bag before you place the tree into the hole, then slide the remaining plant bag off before you cover with soil. When you cover the roots with soil, you tamp it down as you go so you can ensure that the roots are completely touching the dirt.
